Early literacy fun that families can enjoy together at home!
Looking for a way to cool off on a hot summer day? Grab a water-safe container, such as a small storage tote, baby-safe baking dish, wading pool, or water table, and head outside. Put an inch or two of water in the bottom of the container, then add lots of ice cubes. Have some scooping utensils available (like a colander, slotted spoon, sand shovel, or plastic cup) and let your child play in the icy water! Swimsuit recommended but not required. This activity encourages important hand-eye coordination skills and gives your child an icy sensory stimulation.
If you and your child would like to be featured in a WNPL media post, please send a picture of you completing this activity to jhaydysch@wnpl.info. Be sure to include your names, date, and what you are doing. We would love to see your smiling faces!
